Why Self-Hosting Sanctuary?

Coming up with names is hard—and yes, a few drinks may have been involved.
But really, it’s about building a digital refuge from the chaotic, unreliable nature of cloud-based services. This space is a personal experiment in self-hosting, privacy, and tech freedom. Think of it as digital homesteading.

Why does this site exist?

Part of it is selfish—I forget how I set things up sometimes, and this helps me keep track. But I also hope it helps others who are tinkering with the same tools or running into similar problems. If someone learns something or gets inspired, that’s a win.

What’s up with the images?

They’re AI-generated, fast and dirty. I know some of them look a bit janky (especially the text), but they serve their purpose. I care more about the content and experiments than pixel-perfect polish.

Are you open to collaboration or feedback?

Always. Whether you’ve got ideas, spotted a mistake, or just want to chat about homelabs, self-hosting, or AI experiments—reach out. This site is a personal playground, but I love hearing from fellow tinkerers.

What kind of gear do you use?

It changes constantly, but I’m running a modest mix of consumer and enterprise hardware in my homelab. Think rackmount servers, Raspberry Pis, networking gear, and whatever else I can repurpose or squeeze performance out of. I will try to document gear and setups in posts coming soon.

What’s your background in tech?

I’ve worked in various IT roles over the years—from support to sysadmin to infrastructure and leadership. But really, it all started with a beat-up 386 in the early '90s and just never stopped.
